Thanks to the PTA for another successful year of collaborating with the art room to complete the Square 1 Art project!
Clay creatures are emerging from the kiln! Don't be alarmed--these two fine fellows look quite friendly!
Sometimes the best inspiration comes from real life! Students observed the characteristics of bubbles before attempting to draw and shade their own!
Fourth grade is exploring how to create depth and dimension in their drawing. These drawings of 3d forms demonstrate each object's height, width, and depth. Applying different shading techniques helps each form to look as though it is popping off of the paper!
Every year each Middleton student creates a self portrait for the Square 1 art project--a collaboration between the art room and the PTA. Here are some examples of our beautiful portraits from this school year:
SOAR (Student Outstanding Artist Recognition) art exhibition, is an exhibit sponsored by the Skokie Fine Arts Commission. Middleton is given a yearly opportunity to showcase some of the excellent artwork being produced in our school. Exhibiting high quality student artwork to the community, is a meaningful experience that affirms the importance of art education for all students. We are proud to support the arts and be a part of our community.
Students carefully planned and painted their collaborative creatures. Here's a sneak peek--the next time we see them will be on stage during the school musical!
Miss Beatrice and Mrs. Anderson have been co-teaching a prop design unit to all 4th and 5th grade students. After reviewing the idea of form and function, each student was tasked to create an imaginative prop for the school musical. We've made everything from gears (radial symmetry) to crazy creatures (bilateral symmetry) to giant candies (Pop Art). Photos are 4th grade crazy creatures!
