Grading
Art education grades are standards-based and connected to the National Core Arts Standards . Your child will use a variety of art materials to create an art portfolio and many art projects.
Artwork
Art portfolios are sent home at the end of each school year. All projects are posted on Artsonia as completed!
Curriculum
4th grade students: draw and shade dimensional objects, develop understand for use of shade, draw realistically, develop respect for art from other areas, describe art from other cultures, create a multimedia sculpture. Students also practice clay skills. Students enjoy opportunities to experiment and create in their own sketchbooks.
The following National Core Arts Standards were identified as priority standards for the 4th Grade art curriculum:

Explore and invent art-making techniques and approaches.
Creating VA:Cr2.2.4a
When making works of art, utilize and care for materials, tools, and equipment in a manner that prevents danger to oneself and others.
Responding VA:Re.7.2.4a
Analyze components in visual imagery that convey messages.
